April’s Full
March and the first few days of April have been a blur. I find myself constantly checking my watch to check the date. It’s already April 17, which means this month is halfway over! To look back at the first few days of April we kicked it off with…
A cancelled event at the Hunter House Victorian Musuem. It’s April Fool’s after all! In a serious note, we had to make a tough decision to back out of the event the day before due to gale winds.
April 5 marked the Opening Day for Talbot Park Farmer’s Market! It’s like a family reunion but the one you actually look forward to. It was great to see familiar small business owners, customers, and new faces. Project Seed will be here for the rest of the market season the 1st Wednesday of each month.
Filipino American Heritage Day
April 8, was announced as Filipino Heritage Day by the City of Norfolk. What a privilege to be amongst Pinoys & Pinays in celebrating this momentous day at Selden Market. To celebrate this day, we created a brand new market exclusive flavor and also brought back Salted Egg Yolk Custard Cold Brew.
We sold-out of Pandan Milk Tea Cold Brew the first 40 minutes! This is the highest number of bottles we’ve ever brought of a single flavor. It really warms our heart to know that you enjoy the flavors we create. Special thanks to everyone who came, sampled and bought cold brew that day. Maraming Salamat po!
It’s gonna be MAY!
We are excited to announce that we will be part of Yelp Coastal Virginia’s celebration of Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month APIHM: Launch Party. We are celebrating this day with our good friends Koco’s Korean Fried Chicken & Croffles and Lizzie B Crafts! This celebration is exclusive to people who have Yelp profiles and via RSVP.
Meet A Maker (Org)
This month is extra special as this is one of the non-profits that we support. Cancer is something that my dad fought and supporting any way we can to families of cancer patients is a privilege and an honor.
What is Pandas Fight Against Cancer?
Pandas Fight Against Cancer is a nonprofit organization here in Hampton Roads. Our mission is to alleviate the hardships families dealing with cancer endure through awareness, fundraising, and community involvement. We raise awareness through our merchandise and our panda logo. The panda represents helping a family in need affected by cancer, it signifies strength, hope, and unity. Selling of our merchandise is the main way we generate money as a nonprofit organization to donate to those families. We have had numerous fundraising events at local bars/restaurants, bowling, golf tournaments, putt-putt, and more ! Our community is everything to us and without them we couldn’t do what we do.
How did Pandas Fight Against Cancer start?
While we’ve been fundraising in the community since 2015, became a 501(c)3 in January of 2020. Pandas Fight Against Cancer was founded by PJ Reed, a former cancer caregiver. Unfortunately cancer has affected many of our members lives in some way. We carry out our mission with our hearts fully.
What sets Pandas Fight Against Cancer apart?
We work with all cancer diagnoses and ages. The money we raise goes directly to that individual. This could be for any financial stressors and strain such as medical bills, living expenses, etc. Many parents take off work for their child’s treatments, surgeries, and more. We want to help in any way we can. The relationships and connections that we create and sustain with our families is very important to us. Once a panda, always a panda.
What does the future look like for Pandas Fight Against Cancer?
In the future we will continue to have our fun events and creative fundraising opportunities. We hope to grow as an organization by reaching more people, raising more money, and helping more families in need.
