New Year, New Things!
January is such a weird month. It’s usually associated with new things and new beginnings. One thing that came to mind is to start sending newsletter to you all but make it extra! (Coz by now, you should know that I’m extra!) So here I am back at blogging! Back in the day when Xanga and Angelfire were still a thing, I actually used to blog. Yes, I am aging myself and if you have not heard of any of those platforms, feel free to Google it lol.
This blog is an outlet to announce new things happening to Project Seed Coffee, events, new cold brew flavors and really anything under the sun that would be connected to Project Seed Coffee.
To start the New Year off, you may have already tasted the new flavors Raspberry White Chocolate Mocha and Pistachio. These 2 flavors came about because of YOU! Every time I come up with any flavor, I experiment, change the ratio of flavorings and ensure that it can sustain at least 2 weeks of fridge life. This whole process can take as long as 4 weeks!
I am very proud of these latest flavors as Pistachio, if offered in any coffeeshop, is something I would usually order while Raspberry-anything dessert would be my go-to pastry of choice.
Shoutout to my friend Elizabeth from @Lizziebcrafts for ordering Raspberry White Chocolate Mocha Cold Brew as a custom order on her birthday! The custom flavor became a January flavor because of the positive feedback from those who have tried it!
Speaking of Raspberry White Chocolate Mocha, this will be available in the next 2 pop-ups we have this month!
January 21 - SPARC Group Run at Landstown Lakes Park, 8am.
January 22 - Hunger Bash at Farmhouse Brewing in VB, 11-5pm.
This blog might be all over the place, but as I do this more often, it will get better! As I write this, it’s Monday and I have not done a Meet the Maker Monday in awhile! I will start it off with myself, but every month, I plan to feature other small businesses’ BIO on here!
Meet A Maker
Erene - Owner and Founder of Project Seed Coffee
…at this moment in time, I am perfectly content where Project Seed Coffee is.
Where is Home? - I was born and raised in the Philippines and I’ve always considered Manila my home. But now that we have built a family here in Norfolk. It has become home. I love being able to call myself a Norfolker because of the diversity, inclusiveness and creativity that is in this community!
What made you make what you make? - The fact that I am obsessed with coffee and wanting to open a coffeeshop is how I started this Cold Brew Business. I wanted craft specialty coffee to be accessible during the pandemic. I realized I can do it but thought that making hot coffee will make it cold so I pivoted to cold brew!
What sets your business apart from other coffee makers/shops? - The accessibility, variety and tasty flavors of our coffee are what set us apart from others. Our cold brew is available in 2 sizes (16oz. and half gallon), ready to drink and 24/27 flavor are dairy free! We are also available for delivery, pop-up markets and various shops like Sundae Scoop, KOCO’s Korean BBQ, Ghent Grab-N-Go, PourFavor Coffeeshop, Foodies VB, Westside Produce & Provisions, Honest Pastures, Lady Marmalade and Shake-it Up at Selden Market. You can always grab a bottle somewhere or straight to your front door!
What does the future look like for your company? - I have been asked about this many times. To be honest, I longed to open a coffeeshop since I became obsessed with coffee. But as I navigate this business I realized that I am okay to be where I’m at. Some might think that I can only be in a successful business if I have a brick and mortar store or if I have a manufacturing warehouse/kitchen. Those things are the main goal at one one point but at this stage in my life, I have learned to enjoy every moment and phase. I love the flexibility of only doing business on days and times that I want and not be stuck in a 7-3pm daily operations. I love the fact that I can go out and about with my family without having to think about employees or overhead $$ of a brick and mortar store. I’m sure the future will change and I will change, but at this moment in time, I am perfectly content where Project Seed Coffee is.
